Diagnostic tool used in dentistry to highlight occlusal contacts and the distribution of occlusal forces. It is routinely used to check the occlusal surfaces of newly placed dental restorations (e.g. fillings or crowns) and dental prostheses (e.g. dentures or bridges). It is also used to highlight occlusal interferences, e.g. in persons with bruxism.
APPLICATION
The articulating paper is placed between the teeth and the upper and lower arches are closed onto the paper. Light pressure is applied to force the upper and lower arches together. When the two casts are opened and the paper removed, a mark will be left on the cast showing the spot where the models touched.
